Repurpose your Jack-o-lantern

Jack-o’-lanterns are a Halloween tradition that goes way back. But once trick-or-treating and spooky celebrations come to an end, it always begs the question of what to do with the pumpkins afterwards?

Halloween offers spooktacular fun, but there’s nothing enjoyable about rotting pumpkins littering your yard, half-eaten by urban wildlife! Instead of tossing them to the curb, here are 3 easy and smart ways to repurpose your pumpkins.

Fertilizer

If your pumpkin’s getting soft, chop it up add it to your flower or veggie beds for a quick and nutritious garden fertilizer. Don’t forget to first take out the seeds and melted candle, though! You can also add leftover pumpkins to your compost pile.

Cut Up Pumpkins for Wildlife

You can also offer the pumpkin pieces for other wildlife like deer and rabbits. Place the cut-up pumpkin in an area where you can view the critters that come to feast on your pumpkin.

Make a moisturizing mask for your face

Pumpkin flesh contains vitamins A, C and E, and when you combine it with a little honey and milk, voilà! Instant beauty treatment!

Let's keep those pumpkins out of the landfills.
